Purpose statement

Rural Aid's support to farmers and rural communities in 2023-24 achieved significant positive impact. For example: 6,200 bales of hay were provided to 364 farms/families enabling them to feed hungry livestock at a critical time and reducing financial stress. 198 domestic water tanks were delivered, with 97% of farmers agreeing that water tanks allowed their household to better manage future natural disasters and shortages. 11 million litres of household drinking water were also delivered, ensuring tanks did not run dry. 171 of our volunteers donated 5,595 labour hours assisting farmers on 44 farms with long-term disaster recovery work. 95% of farmers agreed that this assistance made them feel cared for and supported by the wider community. More than 1,380 free counselling sessions were provided to farmers. In addition to this, Rural Aid's counsellors attended 189 community events in rural communities. Rural Aid's counsellors engaged with 573 primary school children through our Mustering Growth Program - enhancing kids' resilience, normalising mental health literacy and building coping skills for rural challenges. Facilitated 24 community development workshops across 6 states (attended by 965 community members). These workshops ignited a powerful sense of connection and collaboration among community members, inspiring them to uncover and harness local assets. More details about Rural Aid s impact can be found in the 2023-2024 Impact Report.
